BIO

Christa (b. 1986) is a painter based in Columbus, Ohio.  She creates gestural and atmospheric works that are abstractions of land, sky and the intangible. Her etherial artwork has been sought out as ‘must have’ art by Minted’s CEO, Mariam Naficy. Christa has paintings in collaboration with West Elm, Hilton hotels, Samsung - The Frame TV and in private art collections worldwide.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I am fascinated by the ephemeral nature of our universe and lived experiences. I create gestural and atmospheric paintings that are abstractions of land, sky and the intangible. Painting on raw canvas, I use thin layers of paint, ink and dyes - accented by gestural mark making in pencil and exuberant splatters of paint. Creating is an interaction with the present moment in a meditative practice. Each thought and gesture is recorded on the canvas and I share the physical result of this meditation with viewers of my work. The calming quality of my paintings encourages peaceful introspection.
